The Postgraduate Program in Infection Biology
The Postgraduate Program in Infection Biology is open for all students and supervisors at Karolinska Institutet interested in the field. The scope of the Program is to provide up-to-date theoretical and methodological education within the fields of cellular and molecular microbial pathogenesis, epidemiology, clinical microbiology including vaccine design and development of novel therapeutic strategies.
The primary aim of the Program is to provide organized graduate studies that integrate teaching between different specialities providing students with an in depth knowledge of different aspects of Infection Biology and extension to a variety of pathogens. Another important aim of the Program is to actively encourage the interaction between students and faculty in order to promote cross-fertilization of ideas and bringing together different expertise further strengthening multidisciplinary research approaches.
To achieve these goals, the Program is organizing a preparatory course that aims to give students a platform of knowledge in relevant methodology and current research problems and providing a good starting point if proceeding to subsequent postgraduate studies. We will also provide post-graduate courses on different integrated topics within the field of Infection Biology and organise conferences/retreats open for all interested (previous events took place at Nalen, Visby, Åre and Trysil).
The previous home page for The Postgraduate Program in Infection Biology www.mtc.ki.se/infectionbiology will no longer be updated as this site has been integrated in the home page of the KI Infection Network as from May 20, 2006. Therefore, all new updates for students of the program will be posted at here instead. Please let us know if we can do anything to improve this site.
